Description
Terrorism Liaison Officer-Coordinator Sgt. Bill Ward will give a power-point presentation Saturday, June 27 at the Madera County Library.
The seminar, presented by the Central Valley Writers’ Workshop, will be held in the Blanche Galloway Room 11 to 3 p.m. Admission is free to CVWW members and open to the public for $15, which benefits the Friends of the Madera Library and the CVWW annual writing symposium. Ward is a sergeant with the Madera County Sheriff’s Department. He started out as a reserve deputy for Fresno County in 1995 and, in 1996, became a full-time deputy for Madera County. He has a bachelor’s degree in criminology from CSU Fresno, and has just earned his Emergency Medical Technician certificate.
"I oversee the Investigations Division—Mountain and Valley Detectives, Identification Technicians, and Property—for Madera County,” Ward said. “I’m the SWAT Commander, a countywide team consisting of members from Madera Sheriff’s, Chowchilla Police Department and Madera Police Department.
In addition to his detective and SWAT duties, Ward oversees the firearms training program and the armory for Madera County. Ward is a gun enthusiast, and can answer questions about weapons and ammunition.
Most interesting, though, is his role as Terrorism Liaison Officer/Coordinator for Madera County. He is one of eight terrorism liaison officers for the county. The power-point presentation is an hour long, and Ward will take questions following the presentation.
Advance registration is not necessary. Join the Central Valley Writers’ Workshop 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27 at the Madera County Library for this fascinating presentation.
